How Can I Make Whitening Results Last Longer?

Not when done by a professional. At Piney Creek Family Dentistry, your safety and comfort are our priority. Before any whitening treatment, we conduct a thorough exam to ensure your teeth and gums are healthy enough for treatment. Any issues, such as gum disease, must be addressed first before proceeding with treatment.

Before starting teeth whitening, we’ll protect your gums and cheeks to prevent whitening gel from leaking into unwanted areas. If you use whitening trays, they are customized for a snug fit, ensuring no leakage, irritation, or gum damage. When you consider teeth whitening at our office, you are in the hands of experts, and you can whiten your teeth with confidence.

Think of teeth whitening like working with a personal trainer to achieve a well-toned body—teeth whitening gives you the results, but keeping them intact depends on your habits. A professionally whitened smile can last many years, but that depends on your lifestyle. Here are the secrets to long-lasting teeth whitening results.

• Good oral hygiene: Brush and floss your teeth diligently to keep tooth stains at bay.
• Maintain regular dental cleanings: Visit your Centennial dentist every six months for routine cleanings and check-ups.
• Watch out for your diet: Avoid dark-colored and heavily pigmented foods, including coffee, red wine, beets, curry, and tomato-based sauces.
• Avoid tobacco use: Do you want to keep out yellow stains from your teeth? Avoid smoking, or better yet, don’t start.
• Touch up your results: When the results fade, you can refresh them with your at-home whitening trays.

Simple habits can help you keep your whitened smile for the long term. That not only protects your investment, but it also means feeling confident in your smile year after year.
