Dental Crowns

Dental Crowns Are An Excellent Way to Preserve Your Natural Teeth

Dental crowns in Centennial, Colorado, are an excellent solution for correcting structurally damaged teeth and restoring both their function and appearance. Piney Creek Family Dentistry is proud to offer porcelain dental crowns, which are durable and aesthetically appealing restorations for compromised teeth. If you think your smile could benefit from a dental crown procedure, please schedule an appointment with Dr. Tiffany Fritz.

Are dental crowns right for me?

Dr. Fritz will recommend a dental crown when the tooth damage or decay is too significant for a dental filling. A dental crown stabilizes the remaining tooth structure to restore your tooth’s integrity.

Other reasons you may need a dental crown include:

  • To cover a tooth after a root canal
  • To camouflage a severely discolored tooth
  • To support a dental bridge
  • To cover or top off an implant

While dental crowns can be created from several materials, we prefer porcelain because it’s durable and can be colored to match natural teeth for natural-looking results. Porcelain dental crowns are artificial but look, feel, and function like natural teeth.

What to expect from the dental crown procedure

The process starts with a consultation with Dr. Fritz. She’ll examine your tooth with X-rays and photos to ensure a dental crown is all you need for restoration. Then, we’ll anesthetize your gums before trimming and reshaping your enamel to accommodate your crown’s thickness. Next, we’ll take digital scans of your prepped tooth to be used by the dental lab to create your bespoke crown.

Since your crown requires a few days to fabricate, we’ll temporarily restore your prepped tooth to protect it from infections and injuries. When your crown is ready, we’ll call you to our office for placement. We’ll remove the temporary crown, clean your tooth, and “fit” your new crown. After fine tuning your restoration, we’ll bond it to your tooth using strong dental adhesive. That’s it! You can now show the world your newly transformed smile.

Taking care of your dental crown

Your crowned smile looks great, so you’ll want to keep the results forever. While dental crowns aren’t permanent, you can prolong their longevity with optimum aftercare maintenance. Good news! Caring for your crown is similar to maintaining your teeth. You need to brush, floss, and see a dentist every six months to maintain your crowns.

Rebuild your smile today!
